George Weiss

George Weiss is the director of the Radio Benevolencija Humanitarian Tools Foundation, founded in 2002. The foundation sets up media projects that aim to teach people to understand the vocabulary that manipulates people to use violence. The successful Radio Benevolencija operates among others in Rwanda, where it aims to facilitate Hutus and Tutsis’ understanding of each other, helping both population groups to come to terms with the violent past. The project receives international appreciation for its unique combination of applied psychology with education-entertainment techniques.   

George Weiss was born in Austria and studied Communications and Media at the State University of New York. Besides directing Radio Benevolencija, Weiss is head of Metropolitan Pictures, a documentary production company based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
